Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Since I've been testing this out over the past month or so I have had such a love/hate relationship with it. I've never had so many emotions over a foundation. It's been real.

I'm going on a little trip to Berlin in a couple of weeks and I used it as an excuse to replenish some of my old favourite beauty products and whilst doing so, I accidentally (totally on purpose) added a few other bits to my make up mountain too.

Nail Favourites #5

I am seriously loving nude & neutrals nails at the moment especially with an accent nail or two. Since the sun has made an appearance in London I've been leaning more towards brighter and paler shades in my collection and I have been constantly swapping between Mademoiselle and Lilacism. Both are beautiful, fresh bright shades (obviously by Essie) that are perfect for this time of year.

Rock At The Top is one of my most used nail polishes. I'm a complete sucker for glitter nails and my recent addiction to all things gold has meant that I've been using this even more. It's such a lovely top coat to add a little something to your nails and even better packed on as much as possible, or at least that's how I like to wear it.

If you have any suggestions for any nude or neutral polishes from any brand I would love to hear them. I'm always on the look out for more to add to my collection even if I am running out of places to store them.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit

How crazy people went over this palette was slightly ridiculous - said someone who didn't own this palette because if you did, you'd know it was completely justified.

I'm always sceptical of hype around products. It almost puts me off buying them but when something as beautiful as this emerges from the beauty world it's hard not to jump on that band wagon the first chance you get. I realise this review is almost redundant now as it's not available anywhere except maybe eBay but I hope you enjoy looking at the pretty nonetheless and maybe it could give you some insight in to which full size products you'd want to invest in.

I received this as a Christmas present and genuinely squealed with excitement when I saw the unmistakable gold box. Since then I haven't put it down. Not once. It's become my absolute favourite for everything face and I love it so much it hurts. The only flaw I have seen in any review of this palette is the amount of product you get for the price you pay. There is a considerable difference in quantity when compared to the lighting and blush trios although, as someone who wanted to try a bit of everything I really wasn't too fussed to have smaller versions. I've already been using this every day for over 3 months and haven't even dented any of the shades so I'm more than happy to have this to decide what full size products I like the best and which ones I'm prepared part with my money for.


Dim Light-
A light peach with warm undertones and a super fine shimmery, satin finish. For my skin tone this shade is too warm to use as a face powder which is what I think it would work best as so instead, I use it to warm up areas of my face similarly to how I'd use bronzer. I also sweep it across my cheek bones to make the most of the subtle shimmer and it gives the perfect lit from within look. It lasted around 6-7 hours on me.

Iridescent Light -
A pale peachy beige with white shimmer. It's described as a sheer illuminator and I couldn't agree more. The shimmer within in this is much more noticeable than the other 2 lighting powders in this palette which makes it the most apt at being a highlighter. It's quite a subtle highlight but still totally gorgeous regardless. This does kick up a lot of powder in comparison to the other shades but it doesn't make it difficult to use. It wore for around 6 hours.

Diffused Light -
A pale, yellow toned ivory shade with a super subtle shimmer and a mostly satin finish. On my skin tone this works exceptionally well as a face powder. Because of how light it is I haven't yet used it all over my face but it works perfectly in my t-zone and under my eyes to brighten everything up and keep everything in place. Using it as a setting powder definitely helped to keep my make up in place for a little longer although usually, I do still feel the need to put on a setting powder before applying this due to my oily skin. Overall it wore for 6 hours.

Mood Exposure -
A soft, medium plum shade with warm undertones and a light shimmer. This is my favourite of all the products in this palette. The texture is silky smooth and it blends incredibly. Not only does it leave your cheeks looking perfectly flushed it creates a stunning subtle glow that no other product I've tried so far has matched. It lasted for 7-8 hours.

Luminous Flush -
A vivid coral pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. Everything about this is almost identical to the previous blush but this one is slighty less glowy. The colour is much more vibrant with this shade but applying too much isn't an issue as you can blend it out with ease. It lasted 8 hours on me.

Luminous Bronze Light -
A medium brown shade with yellow undertones and a lightly shimmery finish. If you're looking for a bronzer that will make people genuinely believe you have just spent a day lounging in the sun, look no further. This has an amazing glow to it that never looks too intense no matter how much you pile it on. The only downside to this product being in this palette is the small pan leaves no room for a large brush and trying to create the same effect with a smaller, more precise brush just isn't the same. This will absolutely be one of the products that I buy the full size of not only for the quality of the product, but for the convenience of being able to use the right brush. Again, this lasted 8 hours.



All of these are rich in pigment but not overwhelmingly so. They're all buildable, not patchy and definitely not chalky and this palette, by far, is the best thing in my make up collection. If I had to recommend getting the full size of any of these it would be the Luminous Bronze and Mood Exposure. Both are unbelievably stunning and I am yet to find products that are even in league with them. I do like the lighting powders but I feel like they are perhaps a little unnecessary. When you have separate setting powders and highlighters already I don't really see the need for a product combining the two, but having said that I have found them a place in my make up routine and if  for nothing else they sure are pretty to look at.
Next on my Hourglass wishlist are the highlighters that have been released recently. They look beautiful.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush - Celebrated

The most perfect spring blush shade I ever did see. Or well one of them at least. I'm fairly new to Tarte as a brand with it being so bloody difficult to get in the UK but through the wonder that is Rose's Beauty Store I managed to pick up a few bits - including this beautiful blush.

It's a light, dusty pink with warm undertones and a mostly matte finish. The pigmentation is really soft and it applies somewhat sheer which means that it can be difficult to get a decent amount of colour pay off, especially if you have a darker skin tone. In terms of longevity it lasted well at around 6 hours before I noticed it fading. Despite the lack of pigmentation it is definitely buildable and the silky texture makes it a dream to blend. This is becoming my go to blush at the moment as it goes with every make up look under the sun and I actually prefer the sheer colour.  As someone who's heavy handed, it means that I'll never leave the house looking like I let my dog apply my make up.

I'm still building up my blush collection as I really only started appreciating them last year so if you have any recommendations, please please leave a comment.

YSL Rouge Pur Couture The Mats - 203

Slowly and steadily I'm accumulating all of the lipsticks from this collection. A whole set of matte red lipsticks? You can bet your bum I'm going to get them all. Unfortunately though, £26 on a lipstick is rarely justified even to an a complete addict like me so when this went on sale over Christmas I was a very happy bunny (and it took all every ounce of will power not to buy the other 6 I don't have - yet).

Unlike 204 this a very bright, clean cherry red with warm undertones. The texture is creamy and it's comfortable to wear pretty much all day. The finish is demi matte, super opaque and beautiful. It's very similar in terms of quality to 204 which is always a good thing. A lot of people say that YSL lip products can be very hit and miss but so far so good when it comes to these lipsticks, well they have been for me at least.

Without a doubt these are still my most treasured lipsticks. I have a huge amount of love for Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks and Nars especially, but there's something about these that make them my absolute favourites. They feel luxurious, the packaging is stunning, the formula is incredible and every shade is so spot on. They're classic, timeless lipsticks that suit everyone and if you haven't already (and you have the $$$), I would highly recommend investing in one of these. Unless you don't like red lipsticks in which case - WHAT?!

Easter Lush Haul

I don't know about you but any excuse to put in a Lush order is more than fine with me. To say I'm addicted is an understatement. Last Easter I didn't have time to pick up anything so I made sure to grab doubles of the things I liked from this years collection (not gonna lie - I bought 3 lots of those carrots, they're adorable!).  I haven't had a chance to use any of these yet but I can at the very least tell you what they smell like so I hope that's helpful.

Fluffy Egg (bath bomb) £2.95 - link
This adorable little egg smells exactly like Snow Fairy so if you're missing the Christmas exclusive scent then you're in luck. It leaves your bath bright pink and leaves you in candy scented heaven. I think this one was available last year too and I'm glad they brought it back. I'm a fan.

Humpty Dumpty (bath bomb) £6.95 - link
This is one hefty bath bomb. It smells of fresh, citrus incredibleness which is my all time favourite scent from Lush. When put in the bath in turns the water yellow like the yolk of an egg (how cute?!).

Bunch of Carrots (bubble bar) £6.25 - link
Who knew I had an obsession with multi coloured bath products shaped as vegetables. Not only are they pretty to look at, they smell beautiful. They have a fresh, bright fruit scent leaning more on the citrus side. I really love these and happily invested in 3 bunches to keep me going for a while. I'm super excited to have a bath tonight and use these!

Another huge bath bomb which can easily be used for multiple baths if you can be bothered to break it apart. It smells mostly fruity with a warm, sweet scent thrown in there too.

Golden Egg (bath bomb melt) £3.95 - link
The most beautiful and equally the most inconvenient product I have ever bought from Lush. I usually steer clear of products covered, or containing glitter as in theory a glittery bath is that of dreams, but in reality, you just end up with a bath that's impossible to clean and glittery hooha - not fun. I couldn't resist this though even if it is just to look at. It contains a bunch of oils and butters to make your skin all silky smooth at the cost of resembling a member of the Cullen family. It has a sweet scent with a slight hue of a cocoa butter which, of course, smells delicious.

And that's what I got from the Easter collection this year. There were a few other products too if none of these appeal to you so I'd recommend having a look. With all of these and more chocolate eggs than I know what to do with, Easter is fast becoming my new favourite holiday (after Christmas, obviously).

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

Like you most probably have I've heard a lot about this foundation. It was everywhere a couple of months ago and, as always, I waited until the hype had died down before I actually caved and added it to my foundation mountain that has started forming.

This foundation claims to have full coverage and yet still remain lightweight and undetectable. Personally, I have never experienced those two phrases married in one sentence. As far as I was concerned that literally couldn't exist but I was most definitely proved wrong.

The texture is creamy and somewhat runny, much like the Nars Sheer Glow, but applied to the face it blends wonderfully into full to medium coverage without feeling heavy or uncomfortable and miraculously, still allows your skin to look like skin. I've avoided full coverage foundations for as long as I can remember because they tend to take the dimension out of your face and the life out of your skin but again this surprised me by not only leaving your skin looking as life like as it normally does, but it also adds radiance which is super rare to find in a foundation with this level of coverage. It lasted ages and was still just as flawless when I went to remove it 7 hours later. It is oil free which makes it a nice option for those with oily skin and although it isn't the greatest foundation for oil control I've ever used I still think it did a pretty damn good job, especially when you take into account how natural the finish is for a full coverage foundation. The finish is demi matte/satin, the shade selection is great (mine is Porcelain if you were wondering) and I'm just all round impressed with every detail of this foundation.

If you were sceptical about this like I was, believe the hype ladies, this foundation is incredible.
