MAC Lip Liners - Boldly Bare & Cherry

MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry & Boldly Bare £12.50 - both available here

I'm a fairly new convert to lip liners but finally gave in to them after some of my red lipsticks started to bleed so I turned to MAC to help save the day.

These are a matte finish and they absolutely aren't budging - even just after you've applied them. I opted for Cherry as my red liner of choice to match all my blue hued red lipsticks. It's a classic red shade with a blue undertone which matches my collection perfectly.
Boldly bare is a nude which is super duper versatile. It's described as a muted medium peachy-brown but definitely appears more pink toned than orange/peach to me. It's on the lighter side of cult classics like Whirl or Subculture but I think that makes it a bit more adaptable. It matches one of my all time favourite lipsticks, Mehr (you can read a review of that here), incredibly and I can imagine that it accompanies most other nudes just as well.

After being so happy with these and what they've done to improve my lipstick situation, I can't wait to pick up some more. Beet and Soar are definitely at the top of my list.

What do you think of MAC lip liners? What one's your favourite?

Movies Worth Watching #2

Chef
All about a chef, his son and a food truck. It isn't the best film in the world but it's light hearted and entertaining enough to watch. The reason it's on this list however, is the food. Oh holy jesus. All I can say is don't watch this on an empty stomach or if you're on a diet - you've been warned.

Dallas Buyers Club
I can't tell you how incredible this film is. The acting is phenomenal especially from Jared Leto, who is fast becoming my favourite actor. This film is about a straight man from the south of America who contracts AIDS and then the film follows him through his recovery and his battle to live despite having it. If you haven't seen this already then please go and watch it. You won't regret it.

The Last Five Years
One of my favourite films to come out of the last five years (I'm hilarious, I know). It's a musical starring Anna Kendrick about a relationship and all the emotions and events that it brings. First of all I love musicals so I was more than likely going to love it anyway but more than that I love the take on 'love' this movie took. It's very honest, for lack of a better word. The story, the acting and especially the singing are great, I'd highly recommend it.

The Atticus Institute
I'm a huge horror movie fan and I've pretty much seen all the one's worth watching, and the one's that aren't, over the past few years. I've had a lot of spare time. The Atticus Institute is about a government run research facility in America who are trying to discover people with what are essentially super powers such as clairvoyance, telekinesis etc. Then they are presented with a woman who posses everything they could have ever of wanted - little do they know what posses her. DUN DUN DUN. I really enjoyed this film, so much so that I had to google it after watching it to make sure it wasn't real. It's a new take on the whole paranormal thing that's been done a million times and it's been done well. If you like horror too, give this a go.

Have you seen any of these? Do you have any recommendations for movies worth watching?

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara £19 - link

I have waited forever and an eternity for this to be in stock. After hearing so much hype about it, albeit around a year ago now, I couldn't wait to try it.

I'm happy to report that this mascara is unbelievable. Obviously mascaras are very personal and everyone is looking for something different, but this mascara ticks all the right boxes for me.
The brush is huge and made up of a bristles which ticks boxes and 1 and 2. The brushes' shape coats that lashes evenly although does clump them at the root. That's usually how I wear my mascara anyway as I prefer a fuller look but I know it's  not appreciated by everyone. It lengthens lashes dramatically and adds a tonne of volume after just one coat. It is buildable but you absolutely have to let the first coat dry otherwise you're going to be left with some seriously spidery lashes.

Apart from the name being a bit of an overstatement I really love this mascara. I think it is totally worth the hype and I'd recommend trying it if you haven't already!

What do you think of this mascara? What kind of brush do you prefer?

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick - Red Carpet Red

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick (Red Carpet Red) £23 - link

Charlotte Tilbury seems to have blown up in the beauty world with her incredibly beautiful packaging and products that everyone seems to be raving about. Having finally got my hands on one I'm happy to report that they really are as good as people say.

First of all lets get the slightly more critical things out the way. The finish is not matte but velvet at best. It's a really creamy formula which is an absolute delight to apply and wear but subsequently leaves a subtle shine. Also because it is that creamy texture it means that it does transfer and fade relatively quickly, it didn't last throughout a meal at all and had disappeared almost completely, but, without eating or drinking it held it's own for around 3 hours before it began to move from the center of my lips and fade around the edges. A lot of those issues though could be resolved with coating your lips in a lip liner of your choice before applying and when I did, it significantly helped to decrease the signs of fading and gave me a bit of extra time before running off to find a mirror.
Although the positive to come from the formula is that the finish gives the lips dimension and that is a refreshing change from how flat other matte lipsticks tend to leave your lips looking.

The shade itself is a blue toned red. It's beautiful and I can imagine that most people could wear this colour and it would look wondeful on them.  In comparison to Ruby Woo in terms of colour it's deeper and definitely more noticeably has blue undertones. The bullet, or the straight edge part of the bullet more specifically, makes applying this fool proof which I think is a really great and helpful design feature.

For £23 it has to be down to personal preference of finishes, shades and how much you love pretty packaging as to whether you're going to be adding any to your collection. I would like to try a couple more shades if I can overcome my annoying habit of being overly picky but only time will tell. I'll probably be adding a couple to Christmas list anyway - just in case.

Have you tried any of the matte revolution lipsticks?
Are there any products from Charlotte Tilbury that you want to try? (if you need some inspiration, I did a wishlist post that you can have a look at here).

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder £19.50 - link

I've been through a lot of powders trying to find the "one" and every time they were almost perfect, but just not good enough - until now (cue heavenly music).

This is the only powder I've ever used where I haven't needed to reapply all day. ALL DAY. It's practically a miracle. As you probably know (because I say it in every post) I have oily skin and trying to control it is a huge pain in the butt, so naturally, matte powders have become my best friend and daily companion. I truly can't leave the house without one. I bought this around a month ago with low expectations only to be completely blown away.

I apply this after my primer and then again to set my foundation and that's it. It stays on my skin for at least 12 hours, gloriously absorbing everything. It's a super fine milled white but translucent powder so I can imagine flash back could potentially be an issue but as a pro at dodging pictures it has never been a problem for me. It sits wonderfully on the skin and doesn't accentuate anything I don't want it to or settle into any fine lines. I honestly couldn't tell you a thing I don't like about it.

I'd highly recommend you oily skin gals giving it a go and everyone else too for that matter. Good job Urban Decay, 5 stars from me.

Have you used this before? Do you have a holy grail powder?

Bobbi Brown Blush - Tawny

Bobbi Brown Blush (Tawny) £19.50 - link

I ordered this month or so ago and I can't get over how incredible it is. Tawny is a shade that I've had my eye on for a while but always talked myself out of buying it because I'm not really a huge blush fan. If I would have known how truly wonderful Bobbi Brown blushes are I would have been wearing them from birth.

The pigmentation is amazing - a light sweep with a fluffy blush brush is all you need. The shade Tawny is a deep, warm, mid-tone brown/pink which is always my choice when it comes to blushes. I always avoid the brighter and more vibrant colours, completely disregarding the season just because I think they suit me more. Having said that, after I bought this one I couldn't help myself and bought another one in the shade Peach. The review for that will be up next week if you're interested!

The finish is matte but thankfully that doesn't mean that it's powdery or chalky. Applied it isn't the kind of colour that you get from sitting next to a radiator when it's snowing outside but more like it a beautiful berry glow that compliments your cheekbones - always a good thing right?

All in all I couldn't be more impressed with these blushes. They're so gorgeous and it's taking a hell of a lot of will power to not buy every single one. Although, when payday rolls around again the shades Rose and Blushed are on the top of my list.

Have you tried these blushes? What's your favourite blush of all time?

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot - Painterly

Mac Pro Longwear Paint Pot (Painterly) £16 - link

Since I bought this a couple of weeks ago I've used it every day, slowly falling more and more in love with it. My life has been revolutionized. I have annoyingly oily eyelids so primer is an absolute necessity to keep my eyeshadow on for more than 2 minutes, but also just to control the oil.

The shade is perfect for me as it looks invisible meaning I can wear it on it's own when I don't want any colour on my lids. I've also been using it under my eyes to hold my concealer in place and to stop it creasing and it works wonderfully. I can't recommend this enough, although I'm sure everyone and their dog has probably got this by now - I am fully aware I'm a good 3 years behind with this one. If on the off chance that you haven't added this to your collection yet - go and buy it! You won't regret it, I promise.

What do you think of this product? Have you tried it?

4 Outfits: Florals

Despite the fact that, sadly, we seem to be coming towards the end of Summer in the UK I thought it could be helpful to give you some ideas on how to style florals. Not by any means are floral prints difficult to style, but I think they can sometimes be intimidating. I for one have definitely been a walking fashion faux pas dressed head to toe in floral in my younger years. It was most definitely not a good look. Florals are also a great way to transition between summer and autumn especially when paired with darker colours. I hope you enjoy/find this post in any way useful!

Look #2: Top, Trousers, Boots, Bag

Look #3: Top, Shorts, Boots, Clutch, Sunglasses, Necklace

What I'm Watching #2

1. Sons Of Anarchy
Potentially my favourite TV show of all time. I LOVE it. There are 7 seasons all in all and I'm a fan of all of them. Often you find, or at least I do, that a show can lose it's mojo during the middle couple of seasons and yet this kept going strong from the first episode until the last. Featuring around the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club and the members, in particular Jax Teller played by Charlie Hunnam (aka the hottest man to ever walk the planet), it plays through gun fights, love stories, car chases, betrayal and everything inbetween. It is so good that I've started basically, sometimes literally, forcing everyone I know to watch it. It's incredible - go and watch it immediately.

2. Arrow
Based on DC Comic's Green Arrow this is a story of a vigilante trying to save his city. Usually I'm not a fan of superhero related stuff but I was obsessed with this. Oliver Queen, the main character, his father and his girlfriend's sister (naughty, naughty) were on his family's boat - The Queen's Gambit when it crashed. They survived and as they floated in the sea in a life boat his father gave him a notebook full of the names of all the people that have wronged the city of Starling, and left it to Oliver to bring the city redemption before shooting himself. I'm not going to give you any more spoilers but from there it just gets better and better. The backstory to Oliver and his family, combined with his Arrow persona in the present day kept me hooked, so much so that I managed to watch 3 whole seasons in one week. Each season is 22 episodes long so I hope that gives you an idea of how addictive it is/insane I am. The first episode is a bit meh if I'm honest, so stick with it until episode 3 - you'll be as hooked as I was.

3. Parks and Recreation
I really love having an easy to watch series on the go to have on in the background and this is a great candidate for that. I laughed out loud a lot and found myself stopping what I was doing to just sit and watch each episode. Amy Poehler is amazing and if no other reason you should watch this for her. My personal favourite character though is Ron Swanson, who I'm pretty sure is my spirit animal. If you like light hearted comedy then this is one for you.

Special mention goes to Ghost Adventures which I've been loving recently. It freaks me out massively but I can't stop watching it. I am desperately trying to stop watching it before I go to bed though because I've been refusing to leave my bedroom without the lights on for fear of being attacked by a shadow figure but apart from that, it's great!

What have you been watching recently? Do you have a favourite TV show of all time?

Another Home Wishlist

notting hill sign - copper basket - glass jar - monochrome cushion - cat bookend - candle holder -
mermaid print - blue cushion - retro clock - terrarium - pastel frame assortment

It's that time again when I'm getting bored with everything so, to satisfy my burning desire for change, I'm on the hunt for some adorable home decor.

The first place I always always look is H&M home. It's full of beautiful bits and bobs and I've been obsessed since I discovered it 2 years ago (or more?!). A recent discovery though, is tea and kate. It's full of everything I love, from notebooks to hanging chairs, it has it all. I find myself adding every single piece on their site to my wishlist and I'm always checking for new additions. I'd highly recommend having a look!
